Instant Piano Workshop Fulfill your New Year's Resolution - learn to play piano in ONLY THREE HOURS! It may seem impossible but, as demonstrated on GOOD MORNING AMERICA, thousands have learned the secret of how to play piano without reading lots of lessons and note reading. If you’ve ever wondered how it’s done, mark Saturday, February 11 10:00am-1:00pm in your calendar. That’s when Creative Spark brings Deborah Belcher back to teach her nationally renowned “INSTANT PIANO” workshop. Learn the foundation to jamming with friends, playing in a band, playing by ear, & playing for fun! $90 including supplies.
Intro to Baking & Pastries Join Laura Hunt of “One Smart Cookie” for this fun introduction into the world of baking and pastries! Students will learn the art of making pastry cream, pie dough, cream pies, pate a choux, éclairs, cream puffs, profiteroles, ganache, and even decorating cakes! Sundays from 4 to 6pm for four weeks beginning Feb 5th. Tuition is $150 plus $35 supplies which includes a scale for students to keep. Adult Acrylic Painting Beginners and experienced students are welcome in this popular class with renowned artist, Scott Debus. Students will learn expressive methods and techniques from copying images and creating original ideas that can be applied to future paintings of any subject matter. Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9pm for 6 weeks beginning Jan 25th and March 28th for $140 plus $20 supplies. This class is held at our Clay Cottage at 1123 Chuck Dawley Blvd.
Adult Drawing Students will create expressive drawings using art elements including line, shape, form, value, contour and perspective with Julie Weinberger, instructor. Watercolor & Aqueous Material Beginners and experienced students will learn the basics of watercolor techniques with Julie Weinberger, instructor. Explore different aqueous materials and mediums used in watercolor painting to create personal, one of a kind pieces. Intro to Oil Painting Learn the basics of design, composition and color theory as they apply to oil painting. Students will focus on expressing creativity through a variety of techniques with Deborah Meyers, instructor. Morning Mosaics Discover the beauty of mosaics with Michaela Kuhn by creating and glazing your own handmade tiles using a variety of textures from found objects. You will adhere and grout your tiles on an object of your choice. Mondays from 9:45am to 12:15pm for 8 weeks beginning Jan 9th and March 19th for $190 plus $25 supplies. Morning Clay Learn to throw shapes on the wheel and work with slabs of clay using handbuilding methods with Michaela Kuhn, Instructor. Create functional and decorative pieces in this small class suitable for any experience level. Clay at the Wheel for Adults Instruction on wheel and handbuilding techniques using a variety of useful and decorative projects with Kimberly Calkins, MFA Ceramics. Small classes accommodate both beginners and experienced students and allow each person to work at their own pace under the teacher’s guidance. Advanced Clay Techniques Students with handbuilding and throwing experience will learn a variety of decorating techniques including slip trailing, sgraffito, stencils, wax resist, underglazing, printing on clay, and more. Friday Night Clay Parties! Gather your friends for a fun Friday night out! Explore the art of handbuilding functional pottery with Michaela Kuhn, Instructor. Cost is $25 per person (BYOB). Fridays from 7 to 9pm. Reservations required. If you want to come back to glaze, make reservations for any other Friday night. This class is held at our Clay Cottage at 1123 Chuck Dawley Blvd.
Intro to Stained Glass Art Explore the world of stained glass art with Barbara Easterling, instructor. In this beginner level class, students will make a beautiful Sun Catcher while learning about the art of stained glass. Thursdays from 10am to 12pm for 4 weeks beginning Jan 12th and March 22nd. Beginner Stained Glass Art For those who have taken the Intro class or have experience in making stained glass art. This class will create larger, more complicated glass art with Barbara Easterling, instructor. Thursdays from 10am to 12pm for 4 weeks beginning Feb 16th and May 3rd. Tuition is $130 plus $250 supplies which includes tools needed for doing stained glass and is yours to keep! This class is held at our clay cottage at 1123 Chuck Dawley Blvd.
Saturday Sculpting This overview of sculpture, instructed by Deborah Myers, will help students join eye with hand. Students will begin to see the transformative act of molding a physical substance into form and structure, which provides invaluable training in understanding proportion, balance, rhythm and movement. Projects will include clay, paper mache, wire and more! Saturdays from 9:30am to 12:30pm for 4 weeks beginning Jan 14th, Feb 18th, March 24th, and May 5th for $120 plus $30 supplies. This class is held at our clay cottage at 1123 Chuck Dawley Blvd.
Fun with French This class is an informal, inviting overview of French culture and the vocabulary needed in everyday life. Each session will engage students with grammar and vocabulary in a communicative approach through conversation and role play. Wednesdays from 11am to 12pm for 8 weeks beginning Jan 18th and March 28th for $120 plus $10 supplies.
Linedancing for Absolute Beginners! This class is for someone who has never been able to learn line dancing. Barbara Easterling, instructor, will start by teaching which foot is your right foot-the absolute beginning! You will be guided through each of the steps so you can dance anywhere! By the end of the 2nd session, you will be ready for dancing with other line dance groups! Tuesdays from 5:45 – 6:45 for 6 weeks beginning Jan 24th and April 17th for $60.
Flamenco Dancing Flamenco is the traditional gypsy dance & music of Southern Spain. It is emotion, strength, and passion. Learn Flamenco movement basics through technique, rhythm and choreography every Wednesday evening from 6:15 to 7:15pm with Susana Butler for $12.50 per class.
